A Boat Trip into the Danube Wilderness
Discover the Danube from a new perspective on a small ferryboat. Join the captain and Maroš Ondrejka, Ekocentrum Čunovo’s lead educator, to explore the quiet bays of the Hrušov Reservoir and hear stories about the Danube’s inland delta, wildlife and history.
A Danube Landscape Full of Stories
Learn how the Gabčíkovo Waterworks changed the river, its islands, side arms and floodplain forests.
During the 1.5-hour round trip, we will also explain how controlled flooding helps protect this rare landscape.
With binoculars provided on board, we will look for cormorants, herons, gulls and other waterbirds. With luck, we may even spot a white-tailed eagle.
You will also discover how the Danube naturally purifies water and why its vast gravel bed is so important.
